Texture Definition

Texture-The feel, appearance, or consistency of a surface or a substance.
The challenge of seeing and capturing texture is mostly based on one element - light.
Texture can be accentuated by the side light of early sunny mornings or early evenings, or
by overhead light when the sun is vertical and high in the sky.(soft and hard light)
The characteristic structure of the interwoven or intertwined threads, strands, or the like, that
make up a textile fabric: coarse texture.
Texture photography is one way of drawing the viewer’s attention into the image.
Photographs that use this technique create impact by showing different textures. When
used correctly, the effect of the texture of the elements in the image can become as
commanding as the use of pronounced colours  dramatic scenery or induced movement by
lines.

This photo is a good representation of texture as clearly shows the texture of the leaf in this photo and it also showcases the pattern inside the leafs so the lines which can be quite hard to see. The texture of the leaf looks quite smooth but fragile as its thin. The lighting of the photo adds to how much of the texture that you can see as in this photo the light seems to be shinning down on it so therefore we can see pretty much every aspect of it ands the different shades of colours in it too.
