Evaluation of mind map-
To create this mind map i just thought of lines within everyday life, so things that naturally have lines in them or they have been made to be line lines. For example natural lines would be trees as the have branches which come off in lines and the leaves individually have all the little lines. Then i thought of things/objects that get arranged into lines, so bricks, food being stacked or layer in a line. After i had completed my mind map i used it to give me ideas of what i should photograph, the mind map did influence me as i did take photos of some of the things that i mentioned.
Evaluation of how I recorded the photos-
To record my set of 24 photos of lines, i used my Nikon d3300 with a standard 18-55mm lens attached to it. The camera setting that i used was the landscape for when i was at a normal distance from the subject of my photo and it was in normal daylight, so i didn't need flash. Also I used the macro one when for i was trying to capture lines within patterns on the walls. I used manual focus, as i needed to really focus on lines that may not be the first thing that the lens would normally focus on when its in automatic mode. For example the photo of the fence( on contact sheet) i had to manually focus on the fence as the camera kept on focusing on the background behind it. For the majority of these photos i they include lines of of objects like tables or they just are lines, like buildings.
Some good photos-
1.
I chose this photo to represent lines as. the whole photo is basically contrasted of lines. There are lines visible in the light, then on the balconys glass, then on the window frames. The thing that i like about his photo is how the light in in the centre of where the windows and the balcony meets so its like the point in between them, which then brings it out more so its the centre of the photo. The downside to this photo is the lighting is very dim because of the settings that i used, because of the dim lighting you can't really see the light and its lines in much detail. Also i don't like how you can see the small light thats on and i think the photo would look better if that light was off so it wasn't visible or if it was cropped out. so to improve thus photo i would crop out the light.
2.
I also chose this photo to represent lines as the everything you see in the photo is placed in a line or has lines on it so its very relevant to the subject. The good thing about this photo is the centre of the photo is full focus and you can really see it in detail but the further depth of the photo is out of focus and so is the very begging of the photo. I also thing that the vibrancy in the photo is very good as it is very eye-catching so people are more likely to look at it. The downside to the photo is the section of the wall that is visible draws some attention from the lines of chocolate and makes the photo look messy and unfinished, so it would look better if the photo was taken from a lower angle so the only thing that visible is the chocolate or a really close shot so nothing else id visible. To improve the photo i would either try to crop the wall out or just make it less visible so i would darken it or just re-take the photo again from a better angle.
Photos that need improving-
1.
This photo needs quite a lot of improving as this wasn't what i was trying to achieve, the overall photo is just messy as the angle it was taken from is not showing everything that could be in the photo. I wanted to use the bike shelter roofing as a leading like to the rest of the photo which would then show all of the cars in lines and the fencing next to it. If i had taken the photo from a lower angle so its not looking down on the roofing its basically in the same line as the roof so it leads off of it, because of that kind of angle the roof would start to become out of focus as it would have a great depth of field because the photo would be quite deep and have a big depth if field. Also as the photo was taken behind glass on quite a wet day theres water on the window that visible close to the centre of the photo so makes it look messy.
2.
This is another photo that hasn't had as good of an outcome as i expected it to. I wanted to just have the table in the frame of the photo and have a reflection of the lines from the net visible. I took this photo from a normal eye view level but the photo would look better if it was taken from a lower level and an angle thats looking at the table not looking down on it so that the table is in full focus and the main subject in the photo would be the net, which would then make anything further tan the net out of focus depending on my focusing distance and aperture. To improve this photo i would re-take the photo from the angle that i explained from above to get the out of focus effect and so that the line thats down the middle of the table would be a leading line to the netting. Or i could crop the sides of the photo so that the table is the only thing thats visible, but if i did crop it then the photo would be very odd as it would be very off-centre and crooked.
Photoshopped/Edited photos-
1.

I used this original photo for lines as the building is just contrusted of lines. The good thing about this photo is the angle that it was taken from, ants eye, gives off a really good effect as its looking up to the buildings so the buildings take up a lot of the framing and the only other thing that visible in the photo is just the sky. Also i like the effect of how the building gets smaller towards the top because of the level and angle the photo was taken from you can't fully see the top of the building. The downside to the photo is the the colour of the photo is quite muted so everything looks quite dull and boring so nothing is really eye-catching as all the colours are not very saturated, like the sky isn't as blue as it could be and the buildings looks very grey and appears to be dirty even thought it isn't. So i would edit it to be more vibrant and saturated, i would use levels or curves so that the lighting i the photo was a bit brighter but the darker sections were darker and have more shadows so that the reflections in the photo came out more.
For this photo I edited it quite a few times times as it was very easy to edit and a lot of the edits looked quite good and suited the image. These two edits were my favourite, for the first edit i used levels to darken the photo a bit and bring out the dark sections that already and shadows in them like the right side of the building just so that there was more tones in the photo, also it made the reflections more visible. Then i used hue/saturation to change the colour of the photo to purple as i thought it looked good in contrast to the white clouds, after that i increased the saturation so that the purple was more outstanding and so that it had more of an effect. The good thing about this edit is because of the levels the reflections are more visible and there are more tones in the photo so it just looks better. The downside to this edit is it would look better if i had cropped out the left building as its irrelevant in the photo, so the photo would look more professional if it was cropped out, but then as there is site shadow of it in the bigger building it would probably look odd if the building was not there but you can see the reflection of it. For the second edit i used polar co-ordinate filter so that the building appeared to be like you were looking up to it as if you were laying down on the ground and everything is circular. The good thing bout this edit is its really experimental and different to my normal edits, also i like how the lines on the grey section leads to the building. The downside to this edit is i don't like how the second building joins up with the cloud so then it doesn't really go together very smoothly, and the edit would look better if the line was more smooth and not have so much of a dramatic difference thats very visible.

To edit this photo the first thing that i did was use levels to darken the background a bit sot hat the sound light wasn't so bright, then it darkened the tree so it was more contrasts and visible along with the lens flare which is more saturated in colour. After that i used the wave filter so that there was more going on, i only used small amplitude and wavelength as i dint want the effect to be too dramatic, i only wanted a small effect so the only section thats really effected by the waves is the centre of the photo. The good thing about this edit is i was able to improve it how wanted too, but i think that i made the photo too dark. Even though i increased the contrast between the tree and the sky, you can't real see the lines of the leafs anymore as its too dark, but then because i edited it to having waves i have created more lines in the photo. To further improve this photo i would just go back and brighten the photo a little bit so that the detail in the leafs and i would try to increase the waves and where the waves are, so that its in more than one place.
3.
This is my last edit of lines, I wanted to edit this photo as i liked how there was a variety of very saturated and vibrant colours so i got the idea of doing a colour splash. To do the colour splash i had to duplicate the photo so that i had two copies, one to be black and white then the other in colour. After that selected certain sections of the photo that i thought were the best in terms of saturation, then places them onto the black and white copy on their correct places, then i places a black border around each of the sections so that the colour splash was more outstanding and was bordered off from the rest of the photo. Originally i changed each of the sections into a different colour using hue/saturation but it didnt look right so i just kept them as their original colour, as it still had a god effect. The good thing about this edit is the colour splash makes brings out more detail in the photo as because of the black and white makes the lines come out, like the metal shelving lines are easier to see. The downside to this edit is because of the angle being diagonal some of the colour splash boxes look a bit off and it would have looked better if some of the boxes could go straight down or to the side. To further improve this edit i would use levels on all of the coloured boxes so that the colour came out a but more and was more vibrant.
