Reflections & Framing definition

Definition of reflection - The act of reflectingas in casting back a light or heat, mirroring, or giving back or showing an image; without absorbing it. Reflections is an important consideration in framing a composition and establishing balance.

Definition of framing-Whether it be a very literal frame, environmental, or structural framingframing with light or lack of light, they all work well to bring the viewer's eye to your subject.

Reflections photography- is the art or technique of using reflective surfaces to capture beautiful and unique images. Common surfaces used for reflective photography are bodies of water, windows, and mirrors.

Rule of thirds-  Aligning a subject with the guide lines and their intersection points, placing the horizon on the top or bottom line, or allowing linear features in the image to flow from section to section.

Golden section- The golden ratio is actually a number. It’s found by taking a line (or sometimes another shape) and dividing it into two parts. When a line or shape is divided into two parts based on the golden ratio, it will be divided in such a way that, if you divided the length of the longest section by the length of the smallest section, it would be equal to the original length of the shape divided by the longest section.

Surrealism-Expressing imaginative dreams and visions free from conscious rational control.

In Deeper, Rut Blees Luxemburg, 2006

This is not an obvious depiction of reflection, its the refection of street light on a pathway  and the mood evoked, Rut Blees Luxemburg’s work is an emotional response to the fears of being alone in urban places. In photographing the locations she wanted to communicate the emotional anxieties of walking the streets in urban centres.
