Joiners straight images

This was my first Joiner, to create this joiner I used the studio so that I could try and get good lighting however I did take the photos quite zoomed out because if I had taken the photos zoomed in I would've had too many photos to be trying to fit together, but then this has reduced the quality of the joiner because you can see the ground so it make the photo look untidy as normally in the studio it would just be the background and the model of the photo. In the end for this joiner I only ended up using 7 photos to fit it all together, as the photo others were either taken more zoomed out or more zoomed in so it was very had to insert them where they were supposed to be. For this first joiner I didn't really like the outcome of it s the model is very out of proportion because of the different distances in the photos. However joiners are not supposed to be perfect and as it was only my first one I was fine with it. To improve this photo I would try and stay the same distance and use the same zoom for all of the photos, or f I purposefully wanted to have the joiner a bit jumbled up I would've has done that properly and had certain sections larger than others.

This is my second joiner, I decided to create on of a tree because I thought it would be interesting to see how the colour and pigment of the photo would change as soon as I moved position and took a photo of a different part of the tree. When I was taking the photos I tried to get them all from the same distance and zoom so that it wouldn't be like the first joiner and it would all be proportional with each other, however it was quite confusing in the process on Photoshop of merging the images together, as I had taken a few images on the same section of the tree so I had to eliminate a lot of them. With this photo it seems as though the bottom and left section of the photo is less saturated and vibrant in colour and almost looks as though it is in black and white. This is because when I was taking the photo I didn't really have enough time to change the Iso settings and It was a cloudy day so the brightened of the sky was changing. To improve this photo I would either edit it on Photoshop so that I could improve this saturation of the photo and try and make it balanced, or I would make half of the photo black and white, then the other half of the photo in colour but change he hue/saturation so that its not its normal colour.

This is my third joiner of a Christmas tree. For this joiner I found it quite difficult whilst I was trying to put this images together as the building was hard to match up as I had slightly gone around the tree whilst taking the photos and this also made some of the photos blurry as I was walking. For this joiner I had to use a lot of the photos as a lot of them were the same but still slightly had more coverage. This joiner has a different form to the other ones as it more square because the photos seem to be bigger than the other joiners and it looks like one big photograph then a few little ones on the left side. To improve this joiner I would probably just take it again without rushing so that I could avoid the blur and so that  could capture the left side of the gate properly, or I could just crop the left side of the photo so that the bottom left side wouldn't look so odd.

This is my last photo of the joiners. For this joiner I spent a lot of time putting it together as I had captured quite a lot of the area around the main subject of the photo which is the statue so it was quite difficult to filter all of the photos and merge them because of all of the signs and the shops, also I had to think of how all of the shops and lights looked because at one point it was all very jumbled up. This joiner is probably the best out of the collection of them as its matched up the best and the saturation is the same with the acceptance of one photo, also I like how the photo had taken shape o how the statue is shaped as though its mimicking it. To improve this joiner I would probably just edit it so that its in black and white or I would just use a filter so that its more interesting.

 As Alexa is not looking directly at the camera this makes the viewer wonder what she is looking at and additionally makes the portrait appear more natural and less posed for. In the portrait she has a prop, her camera is hanging around her neck. Using this prop adds atmosphere and context to the portrait, as a sophisticated looking camera like this triggers associations with creativity, professionalism and knowledge and these will then be associated with the portrait’s subject. I wanted to show that Alexa was intelligent and skillful at photography as she is studying it at A level and I think I have achieved this reasonably well. Finally the background was a psychologically neutral grey colour and this brings a more serious feeling to the image focuses all attention onto her and not the background.

 

 

I think it is a good portrait image for a number of reasons. Firstly, it was taken in a studio, so I was able to set the lighting to be soft and even, and in this way Alexa’s features look smooth and gradual and her skins texture looks softer too. Additionally the lighting helps to create form making her appear more three dimensional and real. The facial expression of Alexa's that I have captured in the portrait is one where she looks contemplative as if she is thinking about something; she also is posed with her hands on her hips as if considering something. This makes the viewer wonder what that could be and brings intrigue into the portrait

Within the studio there were some props available for us to photograph, we choose the gas mask and scissors and then added our own additional props. We felt the gas mask and scissors represented destructive forces and added the flowers to create contrast with them. The light source came from a studio light positioned at the top right of the frame. This lighting accentuated the form as it cast shadows of the subject producing an illusion of depth.

The photo of the cameras was also taken in the studio, we decided it would be fun to use a camera to create a 3-D image of more cameras focused on the camera photoing them. We placed 3 similar cameras in a row as we though multiple cameras would be more interesting that just one. With the light positioned again at the top right the contrasting tone created by the shadowing amplified the perception of form

I used the original for lines as i liked how the photo was taken and how there is a lens flare in it because of how bright and close the sun was pointing to the tree. The good thing about the photo is how theres different colours in the leafs because of the sun and the effect that the sun has had as its made the colour of the sky decreases throughout the photo, also the lens flare is quite a good effect as i never intentionally tired to have it but it just males the photo look like theres more going on. The downside to the photo is that even though the bright sun gives a good effect its too bright and the photo generally has no tones  so it would look bette if some sections were darker than others and there was some more contrast between the un and the tree so that you could see the tree better. To improve this photo i would use levels or curves to edit the lighting in the photo and make the tree a bit more contrasted.

I also chose this photo to represent lines as the everything you see in the photo is placed in a line or has lines on it so its very relevant to the subject. The good thing about this photo is the centre of the photo is full focus and you can really see it in detail but the further depth of the photo is out of focus and so is the very begging of the photo. I also thing that the vibrancy in the photo is very good as it is very eye-catching so people are more likely to look at it. The downside to the photo is the section of the wall that is visible draws some attention from the lines of chocolate and makes the photo look messy and unfinished, so it would look better if the photo was taken from a lower angle so the only thing that visible is the chocolate or a really close shot so nothing else id visible. To improve the photo i would either try to crop the wall out or just make it less visible so i would darken it or just re-take the photo again from a better angle.
